"Leon"
An elderly guy who comes in every now and again and is ALWAYS amazed at our prices. He walks around the store with his little cane picking out the perfect pic of the day.
"Wal"
Wal is a scruffy, middle aged, biker who comes in A LOT. We have had some interesting conversations (one in which I told him he was making my part timer feel uncomfortable with his love notes). Although some of our conversations have been akward, most of them are fun and I love his point of view on things. I hadn't seen him in a while and he came in just the other day and said "Where have you been Ms. Jean?"...sounds funny but made me smile. Even though he is odd I enjoy being in a community with him. : )
"Debbie"
Debbie, who is also middle aged, comes in every Tuesday to get her new releases. Yes, I have several customers like this, but Debbie is just fun and sarcastic. She always has some kind of hubby story or nannying story to tell me and she always rushes off on an odd comment like "I loved 'It's Complicated' because I once too felt as though I was cheating on my boyfriend with my hubby. Well see ya later!"
"Garland"
An older gentlemen who comes in with his wife. NEVER believes me when I pick out a good movie for him (Up, Big Fish, Star Trek) but always watches them and comes back raving about my taste in movies and then forgetting the next moments when I suggest something else.
"Sebastian"
A self hating polish guy who claims that "Hitler had the right idea"...scary I know...but I think his hateful attitude comes from a lonely life. Sometimes he will soften up and talk about life or have a fun story to tell...and those are the moments I appreciate.
"The Brothers"
There are two brothers who come in and they are like night at the roxbury all over again. "DUDE" and "BRO" are thier favorite words. Just the kind of guys you look at and think...are you for real?
"The college guys"
These guys are so stinkin POOR! Always fighting over which dollar movie to rent and I always end up giving them a second for free because we all know what that stage of life can be like! I told one of them once that I loved his green beanie (my fav color) and now he ALWAYS wears something green to show me and ads "I wore it just for you".
"Consuela"
The mother of two who is always sweet and kind...comes in just about everyday. We dont ever talk about much but I just smile when I see her. Its like a staple in my day.
"Mark"
A QUIET young man who isn't anything what he seems. He always wears this faded blue baseball cap...the kind of blue that doesn't match ANYTHING. He is a fedex guy with a Physical Training job on the side and is studying to be a doctor. He is always complaining about something but oddly smiling while doing so.
And my very favoritest of favorites
"James and Louise"
James started coming in a couple of months ago. He is 85 years of age and has been married to Louise for 63 years. He came in a few times on his own and then brought her one day saying "Louise...this is that cute lil gal I told you about. Isnt she just adorable?" Louise said "Just as cute as you told me she was!" and then went and picked out a movie together. He is always calling me dear and sweetie. Today I told him that ironically my husbands name was Jamie and my middle name was Louise. He told me how much he loved the name Louise. "I oughta after 63 years. We were married when she was 19 and I had just came home from World War II" What an encouragement! I am sure that couple has seen so many hardships but here they are together after all these years. Just makes me happy and encouraged!
