Jamie and I had the privilege of attending one of his best friend's wedding. Jamie was one of the groom's men. It was just so amazing! While I was nervous to be away from the girls for more than a night, I knew that they would love hanging out with Ray. So Jamie and I left them in Indiana and headed out Friday morning to the Smokey Mountains. I have never been through mountains and Indiana is just so stinkin' flat. Here is one of the first pics I snapped of the Smokies.
I think If I weren't pregnant I would have had an easier time driving through them, but it was a hard last three hours being up and down and all the curves. It was so gorgeous though!
Downtown Gatlinburg was awesome! They had all kinds of tourist attractions and little shops. I especially loved the mountain theme shops, Native American heritage shops and tacky tourist traps. (I wanted to go into the Ripley's haunted mine but didn't get a chance...durn!) We were able to walk downtown after the rehearsal dinner and before the wedding. We only got to go half way through everything and didn't see any museums except for a car one. Next trip I plan on going on the skyline ride into the mountains, visiting the other shops and seeing at least one of the four or five Ripley's museums.
Here is where the Bride and Groom's families stayed...isn't it just breath taking?! There cabins were like mini lodges and slept up to 20 people. So fun!
Jamie bought me a little something from an amazing Native American Heritage shop! It is genuine turquoise and sterling silver. I love the little details on it. This is the only other genuine stone I have other than my engagement ring. What a sweet guy. We also came home with a couple of little things for the girls, a pair of old man shades for Jamie (picture and blog to follow) and some amazing beef jerky
Here we are right before the wedding. The wedding was just breathtaking and Domonique looked just how I would have pictured her.
The bride and groom were just adorable. Jamie and myself got choked up during the ceremony. We have both known Tom several years. Dom and Tom dated in high school and separated for 5 years (I believe) So this love story was a long time in the making and is just touching.
Jamie and I SOOO needed this weekend away and just loved it. However, I was super happy to get my girls back : )
