A lot of people have been asking us how we came up with the name Jubilee Faith. WELL our boy name has to do with Jamie's side of the family so we wanted the girl name to have something to do with mine. My mother's middle name is Faith and my father's middle name is Lee....so JubiLEE FAITH. Jamie originally thought of Jubilee...he said he liked the joyful meaning and I have been in love with it since. Jubilee means joy...but do you know why??
I wasn't really informed much about the meaning until Pastor Nathan told us what he knew about the year of Jubilee and until I started researching it. This makes it all the more significant to me!
In the Old Testament if you were in debt you could do a couple of things to get out of it. You coud sell your land or you could sell yourself as a slave. Sounds like sucha trial to me but thats what Leviticus 25 talks about. But in the year of Jubilee (every 50th year) everything went back to how it was. You were to get your sold land back or be set free...all debts were settled and you could officially start over. SO when you sold yourself as a slave you were only doing it until that 50th year and if you sold your land it was more like a lease. I like how Pastor Nathan said it "Jubilee really meant that everything was the way it was meant to be." WOW I love it...I absolutley love it.
"Ju"bi*lee (?), n. [F. jubil'e, L. jubilaeus, Gr. , fr. Heb. ybel the blast of a trumpet, also the grand sabbatical year, which was announced by sound of trumpet.]
1. Jewish Hist.
Every fiftieth year, being the year following the completion of each seventh sabbath of years, at which time all the slaves of Hebrew blood were liberated, and all lands which had been alienated during the whole period reverted to their former owners.[In this sense spelled also, in some English Bibles, jubile.]
Lev. xxv. 8-17. "

On a scary note ybel is the word Jubilee came from...which means... trumpet or trumpet blast. Trumpet=loud.... nah...a loud child couldn't possibly come from Jamie and I ; )
